leading edge flight training

For those wishing to learn to fly Leading Edge flight training offer ab-initio training for the National Private Pilot's Licence (NPPL) and for the full JAR-FCL PPL. If you already hold a pilot's licence we also offer courses for IMC rating and night qualification. We can also arrange courses and training if you want to convert or upgrade your licence.

Leading Edge's flight training division operates at Cumbernauld airport, with a selection of 2 and 4 seat aircraft available.

In association with our training partners at Highland Aero Club at Inverness Airport, we now offer training for those who wish to fly in the heart of the Highlands of Scotland.

For those who already have a PPL and wish to train for a commercial pilots licence, our partner company ACS Flight Training, at Perth, offers courses for: Instrument Rating; Commercial Pilots Licence; Multi-Engine Class Rating; and more tailored for the individuals requirements.

The student-instructor relationship is very important in flight training. We match students with a guiding instructor who undertakes to provide the student with training tailored for the individuals needs. Flying with the same instructor provides stability in training as the student gets to know their instructor, and the instructor can work to the students strengths and weaknesses.

Members have access to our online system to book aircraft and instructors and to track their track progress. The online system makes it simple to contact your instructor to discuss your training, and also to contact other members to share experiences. Free internet access is available at both Cumbernauld to obtain current weather and NOTAM information.

Sharing the facility with Leading Edge Flying Club brings other advantages for the student. The clubroom is a place to meet other students, and those who already have PPLs. There everyone has the chance to chat and exchange experiences over a cup of tea. We also encourage students to take advantage of the many offers of right hand seat flights with PPL holders, where the student can see what they are learning put into practice.

Learning to fly is fun and very rewarding. Experience the thrill for yourself by taking a trial lesson. Vouchers for trial lessons are available from our online shop and make ideal gifts.
